Veteran is a friendly Village located on Highway 12 within the Special Areas. It is one of a series of communities along Highway 12 with names reminiscent of royalty.
Incorporated in June of 1914, Veteran’s population is 238. The surrounding area is a thriving agricultural community with considerable activity in the oil and gas industry. Veteran is also a popular locale for hunters, with deer, ducks and geese in abundance. We are very proud of our community and we welcome visitors.
It is the people who live here that make Veteran such a special place. Our seniors provide the history while our youth provide our future – both are an important part of our community.
Veteran is a small community minded Village that boasts friendly residents, volunteerism, activities for the young and old, active service groups, affordable living, a safe environment which includes an active Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department, paved streets, and a place where everyone knows your name.
Recreational activities include playgrounds, skate board park, campground, arena, indoor discing at the community hall, ball diamonds, batting cage, soccer field, outside basketball court and community park.
Veteran is also proud to call home of the Neutral Hills Wranglers Baseball Academy facility.
As Council and Administration would like to see our Village thrive and grow, Council will also consider offering potential tax incentives for “New” Businesses to Veteran.

- Collect used eyeglasses and hearing aides to be refurbished and sent to other countries. (collection bin in the Post Office),
- Your support of Lions’ projects leads to various donations throughout the year to: CNIB, Lions Dog Guides, Camp He Ho Ha, disaster relief when needed via Lions Foundation of Canada, Coronation Music Festival, Consort Food Bank, Annual Terry Fox Run, two $500 Grade 12 Scholarships.
- Then there is Christmas Capers. This annual event is held on the last Saturday of November in Veteran Hall. There is a pancake breakfast, craft market with businesses coming from all over, and we can’t forget Santa brings goodie bags for the children.
